Field Commercial Sales Lead

Job Summary:
The Field Commercial Sales Lead will be responsible for driving the sales and business development of tanks, Cargo Carrying Units (CCUs), and pressure vessels into the offshore oil and gas sector across key regions. The role demands a deep understanding of the offshore oil and gas market, particularly in terms of safety regulations, operational requirements, and the technological demands for equipment used in offshore environments. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, identify new business opportunities, and deliver on sales targets. This role reports to the Business Development Manager (Energy Division).
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development:
- Lead the commercial efforts for selling tanks, CCUs, Mud Skips and pressure vessels in the offshore oil and gas markets.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to penetrate new markets and grow market.
- Identify and engage with potential clients, including oil and gas operators, drilling contractors, and EPC companies.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within target companies.
- Understand client needs and tailor solutions to meet their specific offshore operational requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for client negotiations, contract discussions, and ongoing project management.
Market Analysis and Strategy:
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activities, and potential new opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to the senior management team to inform business decisions.
- Monitor and analyse market dynamics, including regulatory changes, that could impact sales and product positioning.
Technical Consultation:
- Work closely with technical teams to understand product specifications and ensure that offerings meet client requirements.
- Provide technical presentations and consultations to clients, addressing any concerns or questions related to product performance, safety, and compliance.
General Duties:
- The role is not strictly limited to those outlined above, as the role of Materials Handler and Forklift Driver and ad hoc duties may be required dependent on project demand.
Sales Performance:
- Achieve and exceed sales targets and business objectives set by the company.
- Prepare and present sales forecasts, budgets, and regular reports on business development activities.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with clients, ensuring profitable outcomes for the company.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, and project management teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of products and services.
- Work with marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns and promotional activities that support sales efforts.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all products sold comply with relevant international standards, certifications, and regulations specific to offshore oil and gas operations.
- Stay updated on industry standards, such as DNV GL, ABS, and API, and ensure product offerings align with these requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in estimating software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong negotiation skills with vendors and subcontractors.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Certifications (Preferred):
- LEED Accreditation (for sustainability-focused projects).
- Estimating or project management certifications (e.g., PMI or similar).
Education & Experience:
- NQF Level 8 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, with a focus on modular or prefabricated construction preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.
- Familiarity with modular construction processes, techniques, and terminology is highly advantageous.
